Welcome to Visit History

We're excited to launch Visit History on Android - an app born from a simple frustration: forgetting which castles, listed buildings, and historic sites we'd already visited.

What the app does

Visit History gives you visibility of over 400,000 historic sites from the National Heritage List for England (NHLE), the official register of nationally protected historic buildings and sites maintained by Historic England, as well as sites managed by English Heritage, National Trust and Historic Houses.

You can:

• Browse and search sites by name or location
• View sites on a map and filter by category
• Record your visits with dates, notes, and photos
• Add sites to a wishlist for future trips

Why we built it

We love visiting historic places, but knowing which sites are nearby and then keeping track of each visit was always difficult.

We also wanted a single app that showed everything, regardless of who manages it. English Heritage has its own app. National Trust has another. Historic Houses has a third. We wanted one map with all of them. Being able to include all the NHLE sites is the icing on the cake.

We're also planning to add other national datasets and managed sites, as well as adding to our featured collection of sites curated by us.
